Another update has emerged from the world of voice acting in Genshin Impact. Recently, Corina Boettger, who provided the voice for Paimon, has been in the spotlight. This attention comes after her unilateral announcement that she is stepping down from her role as Paimon’s voice actor.
Many Genshin fans are speculating about how HoYoverse will address this situation. In the explanation of the version 5.7 update information, HoYo has finally announced that Paimon’s voice actor has officially been replaced with a new one.
Official Change of Voice Actor for Paimon in Genshin Impact
According to the version 5.7 update on HoYolab, the development team has announced a change in the English voice actors for the characters Paimon and Keqing. This is further confirmed by Corina Boettger, who recently announced her departure from the role of Paimon’s voice actor.
Unfortunately, even though a replacement has been made, the identity of the new actor or actress has not been announced. Even on the Genshin Impact wiki fandom page, the name of the voice actor is not listed. A similar situation exists with the voice actor for Keqing, whose name is also still unknown.
As a company based in China, HoYoverse is unable to sign the agreement without breaking the laws in its own country. Moreover, they were not officially part of the SAG-AFTRA strike from the beginning. Consequently, Corina’s announcement indirectly compels HoYoverse to look for a replacement for Paimon.
Even though Paimon’s voice was changed, surprisingly, fans received the new voice positively. They mentioned that while it still has a high-pitched tone like a fairy, it sounds more “melodious,” akin to flowing water and softer.
The new voice for Paimon has been implemented starting from version 5.7. As for the previous voices, the development team will gradually and periodically replace them.
